If you are a regular reader of our blog, you’ll already know a bit about the work we do to create better services for residents, businesses, council staff and partners. What you might not know is that we are committed to mainstreaming human-centred thinking and doing here at the council.

Over the last few years, ECC has been able to build the foundations of financial stability and create the breathing space to think differently. We are now shaping a new programme of transformation with renewed energy, ambition, and focus.   

As many of our residents’ lives have become more complex and uncertain, they need us to deliver greater, improved support. With increasing demand on our services and finances post-pandemic, it’s never been more critical to take a human-centred approach to change. As we look ahead to 2030, our ambition continues with vital plans for building the resilient, efficient, and effective council that our residents deserve.   

As a team, Service Transformation will play an important role in grounding this change in the needs of Essex residents, and ensuring our next steps are focused in the areas where we can deliver meaningful change for both residents and staff. 

We are looking for experienced professionals to help deliver this change. These roles will help others to understand the value of human centred approaches and show what Good Services really look like. Together, we will build digital and design maturity in our team and with colleagues and stakeholders from the wider organisation, helping pave the way for success. In return, we’ll help you develop your skills and career in a way that works best for you.

How we get things done 

Service Transformation is a multi-disciplinary team that is part of the People, Service Transformation and Technology Services function at ECC. We use agile delivery techniques to deliver value for our users quickly and efficiently. We work collaboratively with service teams to ensure they feel confident they have the rights skills and support to continue looking after their digital services when our work has finished.
